Abstract :
In this paper, channel parameter estimation in the uplink of a noncoherent DS/CDMA system with M-ary orthogonal signaling over multipath fading channels is considered. This method uses the maximum correlator output of a RAKE receiver and updates a new estimate value, taking into account the correlation between the value to be estimated and the value of the previous estimation. This method is valid in that the fading channel parameter may be represented as a first-order Gauss-Markov process. The estimation of the channel parameters enables a new detection method with phase recovery. A simulation comparing this new detection method with a noncoherent detection method shows that performance enhancement can be achieved through such estimation
