Abstract
The planning of production of a manufacturing system with certain capacity and stochastic demand is dealt with. The system considered is composed of two subsystems separated by a buffer with a limited capacity. Each subsystem represents an independent manufacturing facility. The manufacturing system can produce P different parts. The resulting problem characterizing the production planning over an infinite horizon is a stochastic control problem with control and state constraints. The impact of the certain capacity on the policy production is investigated, and computational results are discussed
