Abstract :
A Modified Hexagon-Based Search algorithm MHBS for motion estimation is proposed in this paper, which combines the ideas of One-Step-Stop, Sub-Sampling Match and Hexagon Search Pattern. Experimental results show that, compared with the existing fast search algorithms such as TSS, NTSS, DS and HEXBS, the proposed MHBS achieves a similar performance while requiring a much less computation. The low computational cost makes MHBS very suitable for mobile environments, in which low power is required.
