CAMELIA: a calculation program for mechanical dimensions of MV, LV overhead lines

Electricite De France have recently developed the CAMELIA software package which takes into account the various mechanical properties of overhead lines used in power networks. This software incorporates currently used design methods and enables the behaviour of the lines to be checked. Because it is fast, simple to use and can be implemented on a microcomputer, this package provides the planner with the capability of conveniently choosing the most appropriate equipment from the vast range of products available and according to the hypotheses used. It is also a means of checking the correct dimensioning of an existing line. The main properties of this software are described by the authors
