Abstract
The content of nitrogen in water is an important index to measure water quality. In this paper, the model for the estimation of the total nitrogen concentrations in Liangzi Lake has been proposed based on grey system theory using HJ-1 CCD data and semi-synchronous ground referenced data, with the consideration of the spectral characteristics of water components. The model was used to calculate total nitrogen concentrations in Liangzi Lake on Sep. 7, 2009. The results from the model agreed well with those of ground monitoring ones, which indicates that HJ-1 CCD data had realistic and promise of application in monitoring key parameters of water quality.
