  • Abstract
We present several dynamic wavelength allocation algorithms for automatic deployment of Virtual Optical Network (VON) through the usage of a Resource Broker which dynamically configures and deploys independent instances of virtual GMPLS-controlled WSONs. The proposed VON Resource Broker consists of four building blocks: Resource Manager, VON Controller, Resource Allocator and Resource Configurator. In this paper, we propose and analyze different wavelength allocation algorithms which run on the resource allocator module, which assigns the requested number of wavelengths to each virtual optical link of a VON request. These algorithms focus on either satisfying the wavelength continuity constraint in transparent WSONs using First-fit or Random, or allocating Wavelength Converters (WC) in translucent WSONs if the wavelength continuity constraint can not be satisfied (named WC First-Fit and WC Random). We provide simulation results on different network topologies that provide the expected VON Request Blocking Probability, which is used to compare the considered algorithms.
