Abstract
An overview of Bellcore´s proposed software lifecycle requirements, which has been released in a new Technical Advisory (TA) entitled Software Quality Program Requirements (SQPR) (TA-TSY-000179, Issue 2, March 1988) developed by a multiorganizational team within Bellcore, is presented. The SQPR TA provides guidelines for identifying the basic elements of a quality control and assurance program for software, defined as computer programs, data related to these programs, and associated documentation. SPQR contents have been grouped into four areas: planning, software development, support and control, and user interfaces. The SQPR applies both to stand-alone software and software embedded in communication systems. The document applies also to nondeliverable support software used to assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of deliverable software. Finally, apart from software itself, the document applies also to all software support and control activities. Software suppliers are expected to document and implement a software quality program in accordance with the requirements contained in the 14 elements of the SQPR
