Abstract
Discusses the issues involved in forming proper knowledge representation for process planning. After a brief review the knowledge representation schemes used in the existing reported CAPP systems the authors describe the process planning function and its knowledge requirements. Based on these requirements, the authors present a knowledge representation scheme that allows both upstream and downstream integration of CAPP. At the end the benefits of the proposed representation are discussed
