Median filtering with edge enhancement properties

The edge enhanced median filter (EEMF) possesses several advantages. The FIR window used can be of any size according to the application. The FIR filter output used as input to the median filter window results in simultaneous median filtering and edge enhancement. There is no need for any other operation including comparison and selection algorithms. Also there is a freedom in the type (y_ij) and in the number of FIR outputs should be used. Application to image processing seems promising
