Abstract
Design concept of a novel balanced ultra-wideband antenna is proposed. The antenna is composed with a symmetrical dipole and balanced antipodal slot radiators and can be directly integrated with microwave differential circuits. Operation principle and performance of the antenna, such as return loss, radiation patterns and gain, are analyzed and simulated. As will be presented, the impedance bandwidth of the antenna is from 5.6GHz to 11.3GHz, which is about 2:1. Stable quasi-directional radiation patterns and flat gain performances over the operation bandwidth can be achieved. This antenna should be useful for 5.8GHz-band Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and European-standard UWB applications.
