OPTIC: a user-orientated optimisation package for IC design

The design philosophy of the OPTIC (OPTimisation for IC design) system is to start with the potential user´s requirements. The starting point for investigation therefore is to develop a generalised characterisation of the IC optimisation problem. A characterisation of the IC optimisation problem is useful in helping to describe the scope of the optimisation system.
