Abstract :
A new technique has been presented for predicting the amplitudes of the distortion products resulting from the passage of an FM signal through a passive filter. It has been shown that the two mechanisms contribute to this distortion. The first mechanism is due to FM-to-AM conversion. This results in a corrupted envelope. The other mechanism is due to the nonlinear frequency-to-phase transfer characteristic of the filter. This results in a corrupted baseband frequency. In both cases, closed-form analytical expressions have been obtained for the distortion products
