  • Abstract
Offshore fish farms are very popular along the southwest coast of Taiwan. In order to breed more fishes in the limited land, it is usually way by high density breeding. But it immediately causes dissoluble oxygen deficiency in the water. Therefore aerator which can supply extra oxygen in the water is common to use in fish farms. Normally aerator is powered by electricity; the utility will be a disbursement for these owners. How to "cost down " is an important course for this industry. For the special terrain of Taiwan, the wind energy has great potential along the southwest coast. Of course, it could be saved considerable expenses in the utility if the wind power widely uses in electrical devices. The study is to design an wind aerator powered by wind energy only. The new design is not only to increase the dissolubility of oxygen in water, but also to reduce the electrical use. For the affiliation of the design, the blades of the wind aerator can be driven by the wind, then the blades drive a mixer and the air compressor, the compressed air flows down to the filters through the pipes. The filters located on the bottom of pond can produce tiny air bubbles to increase contact area and the contact duration with the water. It is disclosed that the dissolubility of oxygen in water will increase due to these tiny air bubbles. In addition, the mixer can improve the water of the pond with the uniform temperature that also causes a even oxygen concentration. Finally it will achieve the goal of the promotion fishing productivity. The landscape of the wind aerator will be a new view for the fish farms.
