Abstract :
The problem of scattering of laser beam by a conducting sphere immersed in a medium of aerosols is studied. The exact solution of the scattered field produced from the scattering of a laser beam incident on perfectly conducting sphere has been considered. The Mie scattering of laser beam from cloud of uniform distribution is calculated under MATLAB environment. Different particle size distribution models have been considered and the particle size distributions of three different types of aerosols have been measured. Then, the effective depths of typical aerosols are computed. The numerical results of scattering from cloud have a distribution based on Diermendjian particle size distribution model is obtained
