Abstract :
An attempt is made to achieve a wide band antenna element with low return loss for a surveillance radar application. A stepped probe fed capacitively coupled patch is chosen and the step size & step length are optimized to give 20% bandwidth for 20dB return loss or 40% bandwidth for 10dB return loss
