Abstract
The authors report on the design and experimental characterization of an holographic system which enables slowly reconfigurable interconnections between 144 inputs and 144 outputs. Some possible implementations are discussed and experimental data obtained by using photothermoplastics are presented. They have used this material because it offers an high recording sensitivity combined with significant diffraction efficiencies with nondestructive readout and also because it is well suited to the realization of large recording areas. Their main drawbacks are the relative complexity of the recording procedure and their limited reuseability due to thermoplastic degradation
