Abstract :
The limits on holographic lens performance are discussed. The need to make the lenses with visible light then use them in the infrared is identified as a key consideration. Small size is found to be beneficial in controlling aberrations. Coupling of light into a single mode fibre with a wavelength shifted holographic lens is demonstrated
