  • Abstract
A seal recognition approach has been presented. It is based on the shape selection algorithm. It compares the seal by the filled seal imprint shape. It finds the centroids of the filled shape first and uses the moments of inertia of plane areas to determine the angle of the principal axes, and then transforms the coordinates to compare the seal imprint. This approach is independent of the seal imprint size and direction. It can be used in the situations if the seal imprint rotates or changes size, which is commonly seen in the scanned images
