Abstract :
Describes the design of a computer generated holographic optical element (HOE) interconnecting one-to-n optical components on the surface of a VLSI chip, through the use of an off-axis, binary hologram. The authors devise a novel way of drawing the patterns that compose the hologram: instead of using the conventional sampling technique, they derive an equation which describes the analytic behaviour of the interference pattern, and approximate its elliptical shape by line segments at different angles
