Basic criteria for a new third generation integrated maintenance system [for transportation applications]

The authors present a new maintenance management system which is being studied for utilisation in transportation systems. It works according to the newest maintenance strategies (RCM (reliability centered maintenance), LCC) and it is provided with a diffuse DSS which allows both the management to intervene in the best possible way to modify the strategic plan and allows responsible employees (on various decisional levels) to properly arrange a tactical plan of intervention. Moreover, the system is provided with completely new specific algorithms for the management of particular functions
