Power supply options for the proposed Sydney-Melbourne `Very Fast Train´ project

The proposal to establish a high speed train service between Sydney and Melbourne, which became known as the `Very Fast Train´ (VFT), envisaged a dedicated rail system that would bring the two cities within three hours journey time, on an almost entirely new route of some 850 km with train speeds up to 350 km/h.
