Abstract :
Models have been proposed for ranging in localization systems, but their accuracy is limited. These models are typically accurate only for ranging systems in specific environments and settings, and do not apply well when aspects of the environment are changed. The ranging connectivity error due to scheduling in the Cricket localization system was measured in a specific environment. These experimental results were then compared to models used for connectivity to determine whether these models are accurate for the Cricket system in this environment. These experimental results can also be used as a guide to find the optimal positioning of Cricket motes for localization
