  • Abstract
Magnetorheological (MR) damper is a kind of semi-active device. Its damping can be controlled by input electrical currents. In this paper, a modified bi-viscous and hysteretic model is proposed to describe the bi-viscous and hysteretic behaviors of MR damper. The model parameters have direct physical significance to the MR damper properties. An analytical solution for a SDOF system with skyhook damping is obtained where the effects of changing physical model parameters on the system´s response are investigated. And the semi-active law to realize the skyhook control is presented and the effects of the strategy are also discussed
