Abstract
In EMUs that run at the speed of over 300 km/h, there exist a number of problems to be solved for the current collecting equipment. The reduction of the rate of pantograph bounce from the catenary is the fundamental problem for the contact current collection by catenary and pantograph. Pantographs for high speed EMUs should have favourable mechanical follow up characteristics in the case of not receiving aerodynamic force and also should have suitable aerodynamic characteristics. A pantograph is developed, in accordance with the existing overhead wire structure, by studying both mechanical follow up and aerodynamic characteristics to aim at the high speed performance of over 300 km/h
