Abstract
The East Coast Main Line is the most recent and significant addition to the British Rail electrified network and has interconnections into other electrified lines along its route between London King´s Cross and Edinburgh. The line is in the process of being electrified, the completed part of the route being London to York and the Leeds branch. The electrification system is standard BR 25 kV single phase overhead. Incoming supplies are taken from the national grid network at 16 locations. The author looks at maintenance of the power supply, the overhead equipment, safety and performance management of the electrification equipment
