Abstract :
Traditional storm identification gives a centroid coordinate position and uses a central point to express the storm cell, this method losses an important scale information of the storm. In this paper, a new method that includes centroid coordinate and contour is introduced based on storm cell characterizes and its movement. And this method is based on the WSR-88D Build 9.0 Storm Identification Algorithm and employs Fourier descriptors for storm cells matching and tracking. Finally, least squares linear extrapolation will be used to predict the storm cells´ position in the next time.
