Abstract
A mathematical analysis is given of an analog model of retinal processing constructed recently in terms of a resistive lattice network by Mead and Mahowald (1988). The basic equations are written down for a general lattice, and their continuum limit described. For linear resistors the general solution is given in terms of an arbitrary varying illumination input; some special cases are discussed in detail. The model is extended to include ganglion cells of two different sorts
