Abstract :
With the rapid development of the THz photonic technologies over the past decade, the technologies offer innovative imaging and sensing that can provide information not available through traditional methods. Author expects these technologies to contribute to the petroleum industry:(1) Based on unique absorption fingerprints, THz spectroscopy can be applied in the geophysical and geochemical investigation of well core and related lithologies, organic molecules (such as hydrocarbon), and other chemical substances.(2)Because THz CT is able to reconstruct both the reflective index and density image on both the phase and amplitude of the transmitted THz pulses, the technology can help us to get rich information of oil/gas penetration in the micro-scale core structure.
