Abstract :
The paper includes characteristics and opinions concerning some works on the problems of acoustic emission (AE) during phase transitions in alloys. During our researches concerning solidifying of Pb-Sb and Al-Si alloys the correlations between the results of thermal analysis (T) and acoustic emission (AE) were sought. Spherical casting moulds with 76 mm diameter have been used, with an assembly supplying metal to the mould made of grey cast iron. Two thermocouples NiCr-Ni (T-measure) and two steel wave guides (AE-measure) were located: (1)-in the middle of the sphere, (2)-15-20 mm from the sphere surface. Based on cooling curves, their first derivatives and AE-signals, an attempt of identification of the phenomena accompanying the change of state and kinetics of solidification front was made
