Abstract
Describes the construction of a perimeter-protection area around several facilities that handle and store special nuclear materials (SNM) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. The author discusses the criteria for design of the perimeter-protection area and the problems inherent in implementing deterrents against physical penetration while attempting to maintain the laboratory´s traditional campus-like environment
