Abstract
The author illustrates that laminated components are very significantly more flexible than their solid counterparts in some respects and that this fact has a strong bearing on the levels of vibration which occur in an electrical machine. The author presents some data which will provide estimates for the various moduli which determine the stiffness of a laminated structure. A method for experimentally determining flexibilities so that manufacturers have a straightforward technique for determining what values of the moduli ought be applied to their machines is formalised
