Abstract :
The characteristics of several control strategies were analysed for the energy management and power control of a parallel hybrid city bus using simulation. The dynamic simulation models were created, and then three control strategies were used to model the control of the bus. Simulation results show that the control strategies result in the high differences of the drivability, fuel economy and emissions of the vehicle due to their different decision-makings and different optimization objectives. The control strategy should synthetically take into account the drivability, fuel economy and emission standard for the vehicle, since they are competing metrics. The performance of a control strategy is also associated with the operational condition of vehicle, so an appropriate control strategy should adjust its decision-making method according to the driving condition of vehicle to be capable of route adaptation
