Modernization of the rural network in Sweden

In the modernisation strategy the network will continue to include the following hierarchical levels: tertiary areas, secondary areas, trunk exchange areas and local exchange areas. The introduction of digital telephone exchanges in rural areas require an AXE parent exchange with characteristics slightly different from those of present applications. It must for instance be possible to modernise existing telephone exchanges without major extensions to the building. Consequently, there are plans for a combination of selected AXE products, intended to provide a specific application for small exchanges
