Abstract :
Section curve, as one of key features in product modeling, is a very important feature in reverse engineering too. But systematic research about section curve based re-modeling method has rarely been done these years. Aiming at this problem, a section feature based strategy for reverse modeling is proposed. The approach consists of 4 steps: (1) section data acquisition by point cloud slicing; (2) section data pre-processing and segmentation; (3) global optimization with constraints; (4) surface reconstruction through section curves based on feature corresponding. At the end, two applications illustrate that based on proposed strategy, the small feature of reconstructed surface is preserved better than traditional method, and the efficiency and accuracy are better too
