Abstract :
A system designed to keep the enhanced quality of present analog component lightweight production during transmission has been designed. It is compatible with both the MAC family standardized by the EBU, and the present infrastructure and equipment. The horizontal and vertical synchronization signals are identical to those of the SECAM or PAL signals. The horizontal blanking period is slightly reduced compared to the composite case in order to provide the decoder with a reference level for proper chrominance alignment and gain adjustment. A burst is included on the back blanking period at the location where a PAL burst is included. With a frequency multiple of the line frequency (4.5 MHz) and in simple relationship with the clocks used for the time-compression/decompression in actual coders/decoders, it gives a precise time reference in those cases where the horizontal synchronization signal can be less reliable
