PRIMICON pick-up tube for EUREKA HDTV broadcasting program

In the EUREKA project, dedicated to establish a high definition television system, the provision of the key components is critical. The HDTV studio camera is the main source of HDTV image production, and its performance characteristics are governed by those of the camera tube. Because of the considerable leap in performance required for HDTV, the camera tubes used will have to be a generation ahead of those used in present-day cameras. This paper presents the development status of the 1 inch size camera tube, designated PRIMICON THX 898.
