Abstract
The requirement for a high quality interface between composite and component video has gathered impetus with the increased use of component formats, be they analogue or digital. The inherent complexity of the composite spectrum makes the task of conversion to the component domain a difficult one. The techniques and hardware described in this paper have evolved to meet the demand for improved decoding quality. The algorithms used provide excellent decoding characteristics for both still and moving picture sources. The digital implementation offers significant advantages, providing stable decoding characteristics, additional operational features and multistandard decoding using the same hardware package
