Terrestrial TV transmission of D2-MAC/packets

The degree of compatibility between the D2-MAC/packets standard and the existing broadcasting and distribution systems needs investigation so that an understanding should be gained of any modifications necessary for full compatibility, and more generally, to ensure that the development of medium and highpower transistor transmitters could be continued without the risk of major discordances being discovered at a later stage in the development programme. After a brief review of the conclusions resulting from tests previously carried out on broadcast transmission chains including commercial receivers, the results are presented of recent tests of the D2-MAC/packets signal with a standard 1 kW, combined amplification, transistorised transmitter initially set up for operation in standard G
