Abstract
We describe the development of a compact instrument for trace gas detection of chemical species. The instrument, operating in the mid-infrared (3.16 -3.41 mum), is based on continuous-wave fiber laser pumped difference-frequency generation in a PPLN crystal. Development and application of this novel laser instrument to spectroscopic sensing of chemical trace gas will be presented.
