Abstract :
The requirements of a complete system for the management of subscription television using MAC and other appropriate transmission systems have not been widely addressed. Concentration on the arguments about transmission standards and the route to High Definition TV has sometimes obscured the need to deliver complete arrangements for the handling of payment for direct to home television. The authors sets out some of the requirements, and discusses options for the solutions
