Abstract
This paper formulates the ramp metering control problem as a real-time feedback control problem. The nonlinear dynamical traffic flow density model for the ramp metering is developed. A novel control scheme based on auto-disturbances-rejection controller (ADRC) is applied to ramp metering, which is independent of the plant parameter. Simulations are performed for the local ramp metering using the new nonlinear feedback control law that shows encouraging results. The results indicate that this algorithm is effective for the limited plant parameter range. It can maintain the traffic flow density of mainline in a desired value. The performance of our algorithm is better than ALINEAR algorithm
