Abstract
Modeling of complex real-time software intensive systems with high fidelity faces challenges, not only from the usual physical environment and phenomena, but also from modeling the actual performance of the software controlling the system. One method of modeling the software performance is to simply host the code within the simulation program; however, most real-time programs are not written to easily work with event driven simulations. We explore simple design techniques for real-time Java code that allow it to be easily ported to an event driven simulation and identify methods for porting code that does not follow these techniques.
