Abstract
The new type of installation in the wide range of frequencies 45-200 GHz for the investigation of dielectric absorption, atmosphere including, is developed. Special attention is paid both to the investigation of ultralow absorption of radiation in the modern high-quality dielectrics, including thin films and to the atmosphere absorption, including the lines of oxygen and water absorption. It was found out that silicon and diamond output windows for the megawatt microwave gyrotrons have the essential absorption in thin, /spl Lt//spl lambda/, surface layer, leading to the additional absorption and surface discharges. Also it was found out that practically all the role film materials have the noted anisotropy of dielectric parameters, which also depends upon the producer.
