Bit-error-rate characteristics in a 2.4 Gb/s transmission through 40 km conventional fiber are measured at various optical reflection levels. 1.55 μm DFB lasers of conventional and λ/4 shifted types are used as optical sources, and their transmission performances with optical feedback are compared
