Abstract
The important issue of digital image magnification is to remove zigzagging artifacts and to restrain blurring and other artificial artifacts. In this paper a method with improved anisotropic diffusion is proposed to eliminate these artifacts. This kind of energy dissipation diffuses differently on two sides of image edges. The slope of edges is enlarged by this energy diffusion process, which restrains blurring on edges. Meanwhile, diffusion along image contours smoothes edges to eliminate the zigzagging artifacts. Numerical experiments on real images show that this method can eliminate efficiently zigzagging and edge blurring artifacts.
