Abstract :
An adaptive spreading code length technique is demonstrated which increases throughput performance and energy efficiency in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN). Through experiment, it is shown that an optimum spreading code length can be achieved which maximises throughput while minimizing energy usage. To enable this optimization process, an accurate performance estimation model has been proposed and experimentally verified for both the Physical and MAC layer, which is critical to exploit this technique and inform practical implementation.
