  • Abstract
    In order to reduce the polygon action the dual meshing silent chain is presented and this kind of silent chain mechanism is designed, which comprises the dual meshing silent chain and new kind of sprockets with modified involute tooth profile. At the beginning of a meshing circle, the inner tooth profile meshes with the sprocket tooth profile. At the middle of a meshing circle, both sides of the silent chain contact with the sprocket tooth profile. At last the dual meshing silent chain depends on its outer tooth profile to wind around the sprocket. The meshing theory of the dual meshing silent chain drive and the modified method of the involute sprockets are researched. The polygon action of the dual meshing silent chain drive and the conventional silent chain drive is compared. The result shows that the amplitude of polygon action of the dual meshing silent chain mechanism reduces 94 percent and the dual meshing silent chain drive basically eliminates the influence of the polygon action.
