  • Abstract
Considers some of the performance characteristics of adaptive gain feedback (AGF) systems. Using an example it is shown analytically that AGF improves the matching of the plant to the reference model. A right half plane zero approximation of the plant transfer function is derived using the singular perturbation model developed by Ioannou and Kokotovic (1983). From this analysis a value for the adaptive gain parameter is established. The analysis then involves using an approach developed by Astrom (1983) to investigate the frequency dependence of the adaptive parameters. The affect of tuning the AGF parameter is demonstrated by means of simulation results which shows the beneficial effects of AGF
