Abstract :
We review recent proposals for multidimensional coded modulation schemes to be used in high spectrally efficient optical transmission systems. The proposed schemes enable higher order, complex modulation formats while maintaining high receiver sensitivity and can be used in the next generation long haul transmission systems.
