A review of salient security aspects of the universal mobile telecommunication system (UMTS)

Wireless communication is known as key to global development. Wireless and mobile communication is gaining more importance in our life. Protecting information is one the aspects which we need to focus on the wireless networks. Universal mobile telecommunication system (UMTS) is evolution of the third generation mobile communication system. It was built on the success of global system for mobile communication (GSM). Universal mobile telecommunication system´s security is also built on global system for mobile communication (GSM). The paper reviews the literature of the security aspects of the Universal mobile telecommunication system. A critical evaluation of the proposed solutions is done based on the literature review.
